The Purbeck Breezer - 50
Bournemouth to Swanage

Route 50 skirts a section of the wonderful Jurassic Coast, travelling from the sandy beaches of Swanage along Handfast Point crossing Shell Bay through heathland and over the dunes of the popular beaches of Studland on the Isle of Purbeck. The dunes and beaches of Studland are owned by the National Trust who have limited parking in the area, so the bus is your best bet of reaching this lovely spot!

Crossing Poole Harbour via chain ferry to loop through Sandbanks, “Britain’s Palm Beach,” and on along the Canford Cliffs.

Enjoy the views to Brownsea Island in the harbour and across the English Channel to the South as you wend your way to Bournemouth via Westbourne where the bus conveniently terminates at the mainline railway station.

The significant thing about this route is that it goes uses the Sandbanks Ferry. Furthermore in Summer they use open-top double deckers (though its normally double-deck anyway). Travel in the other direction by route 40 which goes from Swanage to Poole via Corfe Castle. This is also double-deck. Hourly. Plenty of local buses Poole to Bournemouth.
